Wien | Bratislava: Apartment House Obydick
Architects: BKPŠ - Martin Kusý, Pavol Paňák
Project: 2006 – 2007
Realization: 2007 – 2009
The apartment house Obydick encloses the circle of the high-rise buildings on the north-east part of the wider centre. The project introduces another figure into the panorama of the city once strongly influenced by the tower of National bank by the same architects Kusý – Paňák. This version of urban dominant is an application of sharp geometry of pure prisms layered to provide a slender, flat look reviving the heritage of postwar modern towers.
The housing project offers an insight into the process of design growing from the modern concepts of older iconic housing buildings of 1950s-60s in the area and thus represents a kind of mutating modernity as realized today in Bratislava.
